Do satellite photograpy websites show too much detail?
Monday, 3rd November 2008 Letter to London local newspapers Dear Editor Some voices in the media have been critical of the launch of websites such as www.seety.co.uk and the planned improvements to google maps, which show 360 degree photos of almost every street in London. I think better information is a good thing but I am always mindful of our need for privacy. The websites do not show any 'real time' footage and faces of anyone in the photo have been covered. Nonetheless the website does show detailed pictures of private property, particularly houses. I am currently seeking the views of Londoners about whether they have any concerns over these pictures being freely available to view on the internet. If readers could email me at syed.kamall@europarl.europa.eu with their views, I will take account of them when deciding how to influence policy and to vote in the Parliament when issues like this are debated.
